Design Spotlight: Inside Chula’s Mezzanine - The Jalisco & Zacatecas Rooms

As Chula’s continues to take shape, one of the most exciting areas of the restaurant lives just above the main dining room, our mezzanine level! Designed with intention, flexibility, and cultural storytelling in mind, this upper level will feature two distinct spaces: the Jalisco Room and the Zacatecas Room.

Every material, finish, and furnishing shown here represents the actual products that will be installed and used at Chula’s.

The Mezzanine at Opening: Elevated Dining with a View

When Chula’s first opens its doors, the mezzanine level will function as additional dining space, offering guests a unique perspective overlooking the energy of the restaurant below. With open sightlines, warm lighting, and layered textures, the mezzanine is designed to feel both connected and comfortably removed, perfect for guests looking for a slightly more elevated dining experience.

As the restaurant grows, these same spaces will transition into something even more special.

The Jalisco Room: Warmth, Art & Celebration

The Jalisco Room draws inspiration from the vibrant culture and heritage of western Mexico. This space features:

• Custom chandeliers and statement lighting that create a dramatic yet inviting glow

• Rich upholstery and bar-height seating designed for comfort and durability

• Layered textures, including velvet curtains, warm wood finishes, and patterned fabrics

• Thoughtfully curated art elements, including custom florals and cultural references

Every detail was chosen to create a room that feels celebratory, expressive, and intimate, a space that works beautifully for dining today and unforgettable gatherings tomorrow.

The Zacatecas Room: Grounded, Intimate & Versatile

Named in honor of the region where Manny’s family roots run deep, the Zacatecas Room offers a slightly more grounded and intimate atmosphere while maintaining the same level of craftsmanship and design detail.

This space features:

• Comfortable banquette seating with rich upholstery for longer gatherings

• Accent chair fabrics that add warmth, depth, and subtle pattern

• Natural elements, including integrated greenery and textured wall finishes

• Built-in elements and custom wallpaper details that elevate the room without overpowering it

The Zacatecas Room is designed to feel welcoming and flexible, equally suited for everyday dining and future private events.

From Dining Space to Private Event Destination

While both the Jalisco Room and Zacatecas Room will be used as restaurant dining areas at opening, they are thoughtfully designed with the future in mind. Beginning in Fall 2026, these spaces will be available for private event rentals, offering guests a one-of-a-kind setting for celebrations, meetings, and milestone moments.

With their elevated location, distinctive design, and intentional layouts, the mezzanine rooms will become some of the most sought-after spaces at Chula’s.
