Design Update: Inside Chula’s Bar Seating Experience

The bar at Chula’s is designed to be more than just a place to grab a drink, it’s a gathering space, a visual focal point, and an experience all its own. Every material, texture, and seating choice has been intentionally selected to balance comfort, durability, and authentic character.

A Bar Designed to Be the Heart of the Room

The bar anchors the main dining level both visually and socially. Rich, moody finishes create depth and contrast, while layered textures add warmth and dimension. Dark stone surfaces, subtly veined accents, and hammered metal details work together to create a bar that feels elevated yet inviting.

Touches of greenery and artisan-inspired elements soften the space, bringing life and movement into the design. The overall effect is a bar that feels rooted in tradition while still feeling fresh, modern, and energetic.

Comfortable Bar Seating, Built to Last

Our primary bar seating features custom barstools with faux leather seats and backs, chosen for both comfort and longevity. The warm brown upholstery complements the surrounding wood and stone finishes while offering a relaxed, cushioned seat that invites guests to stay awhile.

Each stool is grounded by a black coffee–finished wood frame with a black foot ring, adding visual weight and durability. These stools strike the perfect balance between refined and approachable, ideal for everything from a quick cocktail to a long evening spent sharing plates and conversation.

Booth Seating with Texture & Personality

Surrounding the bar area, our first-floor booth seating adds another layer of comfort and visual interest. Upholstered in a patterned fabric inspired by rustic, woven textiles, the booths bring warmth, color, and subtle movement into the space.

Paired with faux leather accents, wood finishes, and thoughtfully selected lighting, the booths create semi-private pockets that feel cozy without being closed off. The combination of textures allows the seating to feel layered and intentional, while still being durable enough for everyday use.

Dining Barstools with Craftsmanship at the Forefront

For dining-height bar seating throughout the space, we selected wood-framed barstools finished in a rich “spice” tone, paired with upholstered seats in a Rainbow Rustic fabric. The fabric introduces soft color variation and texture, adding depth without overpowering the surrounding design.

These stools bring warmth and craftsmanship into the dining area, reinforcing the overall theme of comfort-driven design. Every detail — from the curve of the seat to the finish on the frame, was chosen to ensure guests feel supported, comfortable, and welcome.
